Abstract

This report brings the experience of building the website of the Mathematics Teaching Laboratory at ICMC-USP, and its purposes for the initial and continuing training of teachers in this discipline. It also aims to disseminate this laboratory among the internal and external communities at USP, emphasizing the processes of teaching and learning through manipulations of material objects, based on theories of embodied cognition. Several researchers in Mathematics Education highlight these theories, and the importance of manipulating objects for the teaching of Mathematics. In this perspective, doing, touching, moving and seeing are essential actions for the development of mathematical thinking, from the initial stages to the learning of more advanced concepts and processes.
