Abstract

This article analyzes the poem “O cão sem plumas”, by João Cabral de Melo Neto, which is characterized by the insertion of national elements into the writer’s poetry. Considered an important landmark in his work, the poem originated a significant change on his poetical oeuvre concept. Yet, this transition of style would not symbolize a rupture from his previous books, but a continuity of research that had been developed by the poet since 1941. Therefore, my intention is to analyze some of the formal proceedings followed by this transitional landmark
