The literary criticism has always emphasized the intuitive aspect of Clarice Lispector's writing, denying the detailed construction of her texts, that were, in this perspective, the result of a process of montage. This view is due to the fact that her writing procedures were basically fragmentary and without a previous plan. This article intends to show that, despite being possible to classify Clarice's creation as a "writing as a process" — according to the distinction established by Louis Hay — some of the essential characteristics of her work — such as the "moment of epiphany" — turn out by means of changes in the text fixed in an initial phase. This process can be seen in the analysis of fragments of the short story "A bela e a fera ou A ferida grande demais".
