Abstract

Analysing some of the manuscripts Amalio Pinheiro produced to the translation of the Sonnet en Yx by Mallarmé, we can identify two kinds of time: a metonimic or chronological one and, another, metaphoric or unconscious. The metonimic time refers to the steps taken by the translator to make a good translation and the metaphoric refers to the unconscious functions during the translation.
