Abstract

The main goal of this paper is to establish some criteria in the theoretical and methodological fields for the analysis of the difficulties which general categories of the historical discourse about Antiquity offer to the study of objects as the bacaudae and circumcelliones revolts or insurgencies, since the very notion of revolt (or rebellion, or insurgency), by implying an opposition to the established social order, places such revolts in opposition to the very forms of the historian’s discourse.
