Abstract

The main aim of this paper is to analyze the political career of Pliny the younger from his interpersonal relationship as an articulator of the administrative and legal functions performed by this roman senator during the Principate. We also propose a reflection concerning the motivations, detected on the letters of Pliny the Younger, which determined in which lawsuits an advocatus should act. Another aspect that will be approached in this paper is the relationship between the administrative and legal spheres during the Roman Principate. This approach allows us to understand the constitution of the senatorial political career during such period, which in our point of view exceeded the limits of the magistrature that composed the cursus honorum, also encompassing the legal activities.
