Group of parental education in the context of a school-clinic

Family has received special attention from scholars who analyze the influence of different social environments in children's development. It was carried out a study with a parent group whose children were waiting for psychotherapy. The aims of this study are to describe the functioning characteristics of such group and analyze their results from the view point of group leaders and mothers themselves. The data was collected from interviews that happened in the beginning and the final processes and throughout the meetings. The content of the information was analyzed concerning mother's opinions and the intervention procedures. The results indicated an increase in the numbers of dialogues with children, preoccupation with dedicating more time to them, understand their points of view and also look forward to establish limits involving other members of the family. Such changes revealed alterations in the familiar microsystem functioning.Downloads
