Patients with AlDS are frequently treated in emergency units. In order to sistematize emergency treatment for these patients, general rules for the initial approach to each case and for the management of the most common complications observed in our population are presented here. The most frequent infectious processes are also discussed, with emphasis on clinical presentation, laboratory diagnosis and treatment.
