This work is a semiotic analysis o f a Brazilian popular song, Romaria, by Renato Teixeira. The theoretical and methodological basis is the Semiotics from Algirdas Grei mas, which can be seen, for example, in the exploration of concepts like isotopy and sh~fting out, in the discursive levei and the concept of actantiel functions in the narrative levei. In congruence whit these leveis, an analysis about some tensile categories ofRomaria is made, in terms established by Claude Zilberberg which have been developed in Brazil by Luiz Tatit. In its first part, the paper makes a globalizing analysis ofthe lyrics' three leveis; and, in its second part, the relation between melody and lyrics is made. At last, the paper does a briefhistorical contextualization about Romaria in 1977, when this song received its most celebrated recording, by Elis Regina and the Grupo Água.Downloads
