SADE’S THOUGHT WITHIN RHETORICAL PHILOSOPHICAL LIMITS OF THE MODERN AGE

This article suggests an approach to Donatien de Sade’s writings from rhetorical/philosophical practices current at the end of the Modern Age. Firstly, it presents Sade’s contemporary critical tradition that helps us to understand his ideas. After that, it indicates, among concepts concerning ‘novel’ (romance) at that moment, the one which he adopted in his works. At last, it identifies traits in the heroes of Sade’s novels, considering those traits as an element of rhetorical philosophical frames.
