Abstract

Lacan clearly determined what originates the madness manifestation: a failing on the Nom-du-Père. That means the absence of a signifiant that makes impossible to the patient to circumscribe reality. Still, Maud Mannoni states with more exactitude: on the very moment that the reality comes in, the individual appeals to the other. However, this other, once lacked, presents itself as a pure absence. The individual falls in an imaginary catastrophe; it is "the end of the world".
