The article describes the issues related to the profile, competencies, skills, attributions and activities of professionals who work in the public relations area, based on an extensive assessment conducted with professional and corporate associations all over the world. For the Brazilian scenario, it presents surveys concerning the diversity of the educational background of the professionals who carry out public relations activities, as well as the vast number of names given to corporate departments that bring together communication and relationship activities.Downloads
