Abstract

This  paper aims  to  present  representations  of  mobility  in  São  Paulo from  the   history  of  displacement  modes  of  the  city  and  its  related images.  Therefore   researches  documents  such  as  feature  films, music, documentaries  and   commercials.  We  intend  to  present  mobility  as an intangible  object,  which  is   subject  to  different  concrete  and  also imagistic  representations  that  express   the  social  and  productive relations  in  a  metropolis  concerned  about  ideas  like   work, productivity and  efficiency.    Therefore  mobility  assumes  various   concrete  forms and  become  different  material  objects,  demonstrating  its  social  immense  importance.  We  also  want  to  show  that  mobility,  as  a transversal   theme  and  essential  factor  for  the  reproduction  of  the hegemonic  system  in   the  metropolitan  space,  is  subject  to domination schemes,  segregation  and   prejudices  in  contemporary  society  in  a country  where  the  class  structure  still   displays  its  most  excluding and individualistic  face.
