Abstract

This paper presents some facts of the professional life of Ulhôa Cintra, engineer and urban planner who worked between 1913 and 1944 in the City Hall of São Paulo city, and who had great importance in the conception of two urban projects implanted on it: the rectification of the Tietê river and The Avenues Plan. He also talks about his theoretical and professional influences and the relation of friendship and mutual admiration he developed with Victor da Silva Freire and Francisco Prestes Maia.
