Abstract

This article identifies the historical aspects that led Lages City, in Santa Catarina State, to rural tourism. It characterizes the attractions and entertainment alternatives which start early in the morning with good coffee. It proves that  Lages is a pioneer in the implantation of Rural tourism in Brasil, being followed by other ranch-hotels in several Santa Catarina Counties.
