Anton Chekhov and Leo Tolstoy: faces of dialogic relationships

Anton Pavlovitch Chekhov (1860-1904) and Leo Nikolayevitch Tolstoy (1828-1910) are increasingly known and subjects of inquiry in our country. The relationships between them are still little known and understood. The purpose of this article is to shed light on this rich but little-explored subject. Through translations directly from the Russian original, the aim is to introduce to the Portuguese-language reader excerpts from letters and diaries until now unpublished. This demonstrates the contacts the two writers had, as well as the most significant things Leo Tolstoy wrote about his contemporary.
