Developed from the perspective of Cultural Geography, this paper addresses the process of immigration of poles in the nineteenth century who founded the colony of San Feliciano, now, called Dom Feliciano Municipality-RS, Brazil, and investigates the cultural transformations brought about historically, in its relationship with the public and private educations. Considering the educational aspect as a factor responsible for both reproduction and the transformation of cultural values of a group, analyzes the influence of two important social institutions, family and school, in the construction of cultural identity of the descendants of poles. Noting that the school does not receive the customs traditionally grown in the family environment, the deployment of research probes and simultaneously highlights the risk of invasion and oppression by the cultural institution that, in principle, should be guided by the plurality.Downloads
