Historiografia Cognitiva experimental e a “virada científica”: um conto preventivo

Resumo

O presente artigo oferece uma breve análise crítica da “virada científica” na escrita da História, partindo do exemplo particular da Historiografia Cognitiva. Para tanto, descreveremos o ambiente de desenvolvimento e recente redirecionamento parcial da Historiografia Cognitiva rumo a uma agenda experimentalista, ambicionando evidenciar como essa corrente específica do projeto cognitivo-historiográfico estaria ignorando as complexidades envolvidas no estabelecimento de um diálogo adequado entre a História e as Ciências Naturais. Com efeito, valendo-nos do contexto ilustrativo do estudo histórico das religiões, buscaremos demonstrar, inclusive, como tal agenda poderia implicar a obstrução das próprias metas fundacionais da Historiografia Cognitiva, ao se aproximar de uma conceituação essencialista, a-cultural e a-histórica de “religião”.
