This article aims to analyze the Geni Guimarães children's novel A cor da ternura (1989), highlighting aspects related to both the racial issue and the identity affirmation of the Black people, as well as the role of women in a patriarchal society. Therefore, this article seeks to insert the aforementioned novel in the context of Afro-Brazilian literature, especially in Brazilian children's literature.
