Abstract

For a long time, in psychoanalytic practice, the silence of the patient was considered as a way of resistance. This study aims to discuss the silence and its different meanings inside the psychoanalytic relation with adolescent patients. These reflections were supported by the analysis of a clinical case in an educational Psychology service. The importance of the therapist is emphasized to identify the non-verbal channels of communication established in each therapeutic session, which may be equally or more important than the patients verbalizations.
