The work of nursing in care units intensive
the meaning for technicians of nursing

The aim of this qualitative study was understand the meanings attributed by the technicians nursing in the work in Intensive Care Units of a school hospital. Of the obtained information appeared the following categories: the care to the human being as purpose of the work technicians nursing, the wastage in the daily of the labor process, to work in team, experience that ambiguous feelings and creating an identity with the unit. The results demonstrated that researched those live feelings as: suffering, impotence, pleasure, fatigue and stress. This way, it is fundamental that the labor is flexible and aid the workers in the coping of the daily problems.
