The present essay ponders about the criticism over massive music in Brasil, focusing on the period between the late 50’s and the 60’s. The hypothesis we raise is that the parameters build in such criticism in terms of aesthetic-musical values have become hegemonic in the course of the subsequent years, having the Bossa Nova and especially João Gilberto stand out in the process. To that intent we have first theorized on the matter of criticism in general, concentrating later on the analysis of the indicated period and the presented hypothesis.Downloads
