Abstract

This article aims on reflecting not only about the prejudice concerning physically handicapped people, but also about the suffering of the ones who see it with eyes of prejudice. It is based on the perspective of the Critical Theory, according to the authors: Adorno, Horkheimer and Crochík. At first, there will be a brief historical retrospective related to the prejudiced and cruel actions against the handicapped people and its future relation with our current time. It has been revealed that prejudice is a psychological phenomenon, which happens according to the process of socialization, spreading around suffering, cruelty and shame. Finally, this paper reaffirms the necessity of a serious critical comprehension in order to improve both the individual and the social life conditions.
