Abstract

Objective: To verify the inter-rater and intra-rater reliability, the constuct validaty and the internal consistency of the brazilian version of the instrument The Postural Assessment Scale for Stroke Patients (PASS). Method: The instrument was translated into the Portuguese Language by a bilanguage translator, based on its original version in English. Nineteen subjects with hemiparesis were evaluated by three raters using the PASS and the Fulg-Meyer Scale. Results: The ceiling effect wasn't found. Ther were correlation between the Fulg-Meyer Scale and the total PASS (r=0.79 and p<0.0001); excelent internal consistency for the total PASS (0.83) and its subscale Changing Posture (0.84); excelent interrater coeficient reliability for the total PASS and its subscales Maintaining Posture and Changing Posture(0.93; 0.95 and 0.87, respectively). Conclusion: The PASS showed results of constructive validity, internal consistency and reliability that allow its use in clinical practice.
